90-DAY TRANSMISSION WARRANTY

All transmissions are covered by a limited warranty of 90 days (unlimited miles) with our 2-Year half price pledge, or one of the *OPTIONAL

One Year Unlimited Mile or Three Year/100,000 Mile (whichever occurs first) Limited Warranties. For the duration of the warranty period, Fort Dodge Transmission will do any minor repairs or replace the transmission, at our discretion, in our shop, at no charge. If the vehicle is not able to come to our shop, it must go back to the shop that originally installed the unit. We will credit them a fixed labor rate at the FACTORY time for R&R or repair as found in the CHILTON LABOR GUIDE and PARTS MANUAL. We will also give you a fixed amount for fluid. If the vehicle is unable to be returned to our shop or the original installing shop, it must go to an Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) or Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG) affiliated shop for evaluation. At that time, we will do one of the following: 1) Have the repairs done there. 2) Ship a replacement unit to them. or 3) Require the original unit to be returned to us for repairs. (In some cases the cost of repair may exceed the original purchase price from Fort Dodge Transmission, in which case the original purchase price will be refunded to fulfill all warranty obligations.) Synthetic fluid and a temperature gauge are recommended for all trucks and vans with our three year warranties.

NOTE: Snow removal vehicles are limited to 90-Day Warranty with Two-Year Half Price Replacement, commencing with purchase date.

NOTE: WE MUST APPROVE ALL WARRANTY WORK BEFORE STARTING.

TWO-YEAR HALF PRICE PLEDGE

If your transmission fails after your 90 day warranty has expired, you have our pledge that for the Two Year period commencing with the date of your purchase, a replacement unit will never cost you more than half your original cost. This does not include broken case costs. The transmission must be returned to our shop for inspection, repair or replacement. Our normal limitations still apply. This does not renew your warranty, pay any R&R labor or pay for freight.

LIMITATIONS:

  • All warranties will be VOIDED as the result of ANY FORM OF OVERHEATING!

  • This includes but is not limited to excessive usage or abuse, inadequate cooling system, cooler line freeze-up, heavy pulling, loss of lock-up converter application, any form of cooler line restriction or failure of electronic components on vehicle not supplied by us.

  • The warranty can, at our discretion, be VOIDED for any of the following circumstances:

    • Water in the transmission or modulator, broken cases, twisted or broken shafts or running the transmission low on fluid.

    • Improper installation procedures including, but not limited to:

      • Improperly adjusted T.V. cable or linkage.

      • Failure to do the following: install or improper installation of spin-on filter; properly flush cooler (this doesn’t mean blowing air through the lines or using flush in a can).

      • Improper clearance between the converter and flywheel.

    • Low sprag (one-way clutch) failure, broken park pawl or reverse band and their related parts.

    • Not scanning, clearing codes, quick learning, or checking sensors on ECM controlled units.

    • Failures caused by faulty electronic components (ECM, vehicle speed sensors, manual lever position sensor, or bad grounds).

    • Grounding problems where engine grounds through converter causing hub damage or premature internal bearing failure.

  • Optional Limited Warranties: (Not Available On Snow Removal Vehicles)

    • Commercial vehicles and vehicles over 12,000 GVW require prior authorization for optional warranties, as mileage limitations may apply. Transmission may need to be returned to Fort Dodge Transmission for evaluation, repair or replacement.

    • Service and filter change are recommended every 20,000 miles or more often as needed (normal maintenance is still required). Synthetic fluid is recommended for trucks and vans with a two-year warranty.

  • This warranty is limited to faulty workmanship or defective parts we furnished and is NOT an unconditional guarantee against all hazards or failure and DOES NOT cover tow bills, unauthorized repairs, loss of use or loss or earnings.

  • Labor coverage for R&R applies only to the AUTO REPAIR facility that purchased the unit and they install it themselves for profit. If someone other than the shop who purchased the unit installs the unit, there is NOLABOR coverage. Personally owned and employee owned vehicles are NOT covered. Sales to parts stores or carryout sales have NO labor coverage.

  • Repair or replacement of transmission and/or torque converter does not extend the life of the warranty, and we reserve the right to repair or replace the unit as we see fit.

  • We reserve the right to refund the wholesale price, plus freight, to fulfill warranty obligations.

SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS: Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty will last. This warranty gives you

specific legal and other rights, which may vary from state to state.
